Katie is in her first six at St John’s Chambers having joined as a pupil in September 2008. Katie studied Law at Jesus College, Oxford University. Katie is a member of Lincoln’s Inn and was called to the Bar in 2008.
“From the minute I left my first-round interview at St. John’s Chambers, I knew it was the place for me. I was instantly put at ease by the interview panel and, though the interview itself was highly challenging, the manner and approach of the panel brought out the absolute best in me. I also got the impression that, should you be taken on as a tenant in Chambers, you would be given challenging work early on in your career.
“I was also excited at the prospect of living and working in Bristol. It is a thriving legal centre with plenty of high-quality work. At the same time, all my family live in Wales and Bristol is close enough to home for me to visit easily.
“So by the time the pupillage providers sent out their offers in early August 2008, I was completely sold on both St. John’s Chambers and Bristol- choosing St. John’s was an easy decision for me.
“My husband and I have recently made the move here from South Wales and the transition has been very smooth indeed. We have no regrets at all. I am close enough to Chambers to walk everyday and the social aspect of life in Bristol is second to none. The lifestyle is proving to be fantastic.
“My first impressions of Chambers have also been very much confirmed by my first few weeks. There is an easy camaraderie within chambers and a very supportive atmosphere. Everyone is down-to-earth and approachable, which makes life as a pupil so much more enjoyable than it might otherwise have been elsewhere.
“Quality of life, both professional and personal, has never been better.”
